The Middle or Mix Voice - a blend of chest and head sensations.
When we speak our larynx is able to rest in a relatively relaxed state, with little or no interference from the outer muscles. Speech Level Singing is the practice of developing our voice so that we may sing with the same easily produced voice that we have use when we speak.
Speech Level Singing has a focus on breath, posture and laryngeal awareness, but has a greater focus on the development of tone and correct speech level use of the larynx.
There are a number of exercises designed to develop an excellent singing voice.
These include lip and tongue trilling, use of vowels, humming and short words over various melodic phrases.
Examples of these are:
The Lip Trill Exercise
The Neh, Neh, Neh Exercise
Speech Level Singing is a comprehensive singing technique that has proven results. There are qualified Speech Level teachers around the world.
